39 countries have participated in at least one round since 2002/03; 31 countries participated in ESS Round 10 (2020-22). European countries are welcome to join the ESS, even if they have previously not taken part or have been absent for some time.

ESS was granted European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC) status in 2013. Italy, represented by Inapp, is a full member of the ESS ERIC. The National Representative of ESS is the President of Inapp, and both the National Coordinator of the survey in Italy and the Italian working group also operate at the Institute.

What Ess Data do we use for Greek elections post-Crisis?

Due to the lack of ESS data for Greece after 2010, for the electorate composition of parties post-crisis we use the Hellenic National Election Study (ELNES) carried out after the Greek general elections in January 2015. See the Supporting Information for a note on data issues.
